A mechanism to do that is through the active promotion and provision of lifelong learning. Malaysia is one of those countries which have been vigorously doing that. It has formulated several policies and strategies and undertaken a number of initiatives towards providing infrastructural and financial support to open up more opportunities for lifelong learning among its citizens. ICT is seen as an integral part of these efforts. ODL with its flexible, affordable and highly accessible programmes and delivery modes is the best medium to promote, support and provide lifelong learning in the country. OUM as the country?s first ODL University is in a very vital position to play its role in contributing towards this endeavour. This role will be further strengthened with the establishment of its School of Lifelong Learning in early 2005. (Abstract by author)} }
