In Malaysia, the provision for education is the biggest challenge for the government as the nation strives to become a fully industrialized country by the year 2020. Universities are taking up the challenge by changing not only the content of the curriculum and programmes but more importantly, the delivery systems. This has been accepted overwhelmingly by Malaysian and has been answered by developing off-campus programmes - that is open and distance education. This short paper seeks to provide a snapshot picture of open and distance education in Malaysia.
