"Understanding the right project scheduling methodology is essential to ensure project\r\ncompletion on time. This research is addressing problem of project not complete on time\r\ndue to project scheduling methodology specifically Critical Path Method methodology\r\nnot entirely understood by project team. Objectives of this research is to identify the\r\nadvantages and disadvantages of Critical Path Method, to identify success factor of\r\nCritical Path Method and to identify elements of Critical Path Method. The scope of this\r\nresearch is on manufacturing industry specifically in electronics sector located in Johor\r\narea and respondent consists of project management professionals. A total of 128 project\r\nmanagement professionals eligible for the study with response rate of 91.43%. From\r\nthose responses, 114 responses were valid for the final statistical assessment. The\r\nmethodology is based on quantitative research approach. Survey has been used as an\r\ninstrument for data collection while validity statistical analysis and reliability statistical\r\nanalysis were used to assess collected data. Studies show the reliable advantages of\r\nCritical Path Method are assist project team to make an informed decision, delivers a\r\nsystematic project scheduling, visualize scheduling risk and enhance project flexibility.\r\nStudy also show reliable disadvantages of Critical Path Method are Critical Path increase\r\nwhen project duration shortens, Critical Path Method become more complex when scope,\r\ntime and cost creep from initial project charter, Critical Path Method become ineffective\r\nto manage when cost and time are too flexible and changes too dynamic. Study also show\r\n\r\nthat reliable success factor of Critical Path Method are maintain the project plan up-to-\r\ndate which accessible by everyone and maintain the stakeholder updated using the right\r\nmethod of communication. Study show that reliable Critical Path Method elements are\r\nCritical Path analysis, float calculation, early start and early finish calculation, float\r\ndetermination and lastly late start and late finish calculation.
