How to ask properly…

How to ask properly…

Greetings, just want to share something with you. Taken from Jacqueline Whitmore’s Blog…

Here are some tips to help make an email request stronger and more effective.

Greet me. An email that doesn’t contain my name tells me that you might have sent this question to a multitude of experts. Dale Carnegie tells us that the sweetest sound to a person’s ear is the sound of their own name. Well, I like to see my name in print too. It shows that you have taken the time to personalize your message.

Enlighten me. In general, I will assume that I don’t know you unless you tell me how we met or know one other. Did we meet at a luncheon or a seminar? Did someone refer you to me? I meet and speak with a lot of people, as I’m sure you do too, so please refresh my memory.

Flatter me. Sometimes I will get an email that requires me to stop what I’m doing and make an effort to do a little research in order to answer the question. I am more apt to help you if you have done something to help me. Do you subscribe to my blog or e-newsletter? Have you attended one of my classes? Have read you read my book, Business Class, purchased one of my products or referred me to someone you know? If you do something nice for me, I am eager to reciprocate the favor.

Be specific. Not all emails are clear, concise and contain all the facts, therefore, if your email does not contain pertinent information, I can’t give you my best answer. Make sure you to include as many facts as possible without making the email too long or boring.

Give me a deadline. If you need an answer right away, let me know; otherwise I will assume that your email is not time sensitive.

Thank me. Your email may require research and time on my part. If I take the time to respond, please send me an email in return that expresses your appreciation for my efforts. Better yet, let me know how the situation turned out if you did take my advice. It’s always nice to know that my efforts were worthwhile and helpful.

The Success Principles

The Success Principles

Good Morning and Sejahtera Everyone

Today, I would like to share something with you. Sent to me via email this morning, the 10 ways to have a better day. Logically, if you start your day with smile, you will end your days with smile and vice-versa. Here goes the 10 ways to have a better day.

Number 1 : Wake up 30 Minutes Early.
Get up 30 minutes before the alarm goes off and take the first half hour for yourself. Once you get busy and into the day there never seems to be the time for yourself. Take this time to plan getting the most from the day.

Number 2 : Read, Listen, or Watch Something Uplifting.
Make this a daily habit. Get out of starting the day with good mental food. A great day does not begin with the news or the paper, it begins with ideas or energy that will propel you through the day. What you first hear will stay with you throughout the day.

Number 3: Eat a Good Breakfast to Start You Off Right.
Get something good into your body to wake it up and get it going. Think about the energy you will need to perform.  Everyday we run a marathon. What would you need to eat and drink to win it.

Number 4 : Choose Your Winning Attitude.
There is enough to go wrong without sabotaging yourself. Your attitude is a choice  you make. Don’t let it come between you and your success. Be careful to keep it  positive all day long.

Number 5 : Be Aware of What They are Telling You.
The people around us have a profound effect on how we get through life. Our closest  friends and family are our greatest environmental influences. Make sure you have the best ( +ve ) advisors you can find.

Number 6 : Make the Most of What You Do.
When you get to your work, make it the best place to be. Most people go to work and never think about work while they are there. Focus on your contribution. What would it be like if you were not around. Strive to give a 100% each and every day.

Number 7 : Always Remember that People are Listening.
Make a point of talking well of others. Wish others the best in life. What goes around does come around. Don’t talk about anyone. Try to understand their circumstances Practice being a support system to your friends and family. They need you.

Number 8 : Be Honest and Fair to Others.
It does make a difference. What you give to others is usually what you get from others. Practice integrity that people can see and feel. Be aware of what you say. Learn to walk your talk at all times. The more people trust you, the more of their time they will trust with you.

Number 9 : Pace Your Energy to Last All Day.
Be careful of bursts of energy. Pace your energy throughout the day. If you get to crazy early in the day, you will reach a point of exhaustion before the day is over. By planning your entire day before you begin, you will have what you need. You’ve heard the old saying “look alive.”

Number 10 : Get in Bed Early and Study for the Future.
I have a friend who keeps a journal at his bedside. Every night he writes what he learned new on that day. The only way to keep one step above the masses is to learn new ways to do things. Develop the habit of reading a work or personal development book before you go to sleep. Reading for 30 minutes a day is like a year of college. You can’t succeed if you don’t read.

Decisions.. decisions.. decisions…

Decisions.. decisions.. decisions…

Do you notice that everyday you make decisions? You wake up.. take a shower.. and you decide on what to wear to work that day. Women perhaps will take a bit longer time since it would need matching of accessories – handbags, shoes, head scarf, etc.

You go to work and you will decide on which work to do first. Then your staff told you that there is a problem in purchasing the books that you have asked the day before since most are out of stock and some are no longer being printed. To make things worst, you really need to buy these books asap. So you decide on what to do.

Then a friend sent an email inviting you to attend an event on the weekend but unfortunately you have already make plans. So you need to decide whether to support your friend or go according to your plans.

Finish work at 5.30pm, you go home and decide on what to cook for dinner. You even decide on which pijama you should wear to sleep that night. And that’s a whole circle of decisions you make in a day.

But the worst part in making decisions is when your decision determines the life of someone else. Will you follow facts and logic? Will you rule out instinct? Will things go fine with the decisions you have made? What if something goes wrong? What is going to happen to that someone?

aaa.. tough decisions hurts .. what ever the case may be.

Lesson learned … everywhere

Lesson learned … everywhere

Last weekend, my buddies and me went to Bagan Lalang for an all girls night. The 12 of us cramped up in a 2-storey teepee-like bungalow that says ‘maximum 5 people’ – a close to shabby one. It has only one bathroom. The TV was not working. The air-con upstairs was just breezily-cold. The wall fan downstairs couldn’t oscillate. The door knob was broken. The staircase is at a scary 90 degree angle.

However, the bungalow wasn’t the problem – we managed really well arranging who sleeps where, taking turns using the bathroom etc. The memorable pain came that night when we had dinner at one of the seafood restaurant. Arriving there at 8pm – it was a full house. We lingered a while and was lucky to get a place. After few minutes, I asked to order, the waiter said “Kena beratur kat sana kak”, showing me to the direction of a snake-like que. Oh? So two friends were nominated to the job. At the table, I wanted to order drinks but couldn’t get hold of any waiter. 15 mins later, finally a waiter passed by just to tell me that I have to que up to order drinks! Oh God! I searched in my handbag for a pen and a peace of paper. I found the pen but settled with a napkin to write the order. Then I gave it to my 2 friends who are still in the line.

30 mins passed by and no drinks came, what more food. We all got thirsty and started to feel hungry. I went to to the nearby store and got several can drinks and snacks to buy time.

After lining up for 45 mins, the two friends finally came back to the table and joined us snacking.

Another 30 mins passed, nothing arrived. I thought, if I am alone, I would have just walk-off. But being with friends and plus nothing to eat at the teepee bungalow, I stayed.

Another 15 mins – the drinks finally came! Up until that time – we were all getting really sleepy and tired. Not to mention the stress – trying to keep the anger down.

Finally at 10.00 pm – the food came! But because of the snacking, 2 cans of drink, tired, sleepy and angry – and the fact that it was 2 hours before midnight – I wasn’t really that hungry anymore.

Later I heard, the restaurant has been operating like such. People have to wait for hours to get food. To make it worst, the food wasn’t that out-of-the-world awesome. It was a so-so taste. The service was terrible. What to like about it? I just don’t understand.

I don’t think the owner ever think about improvement – cut the waiting hours shorter perhaps? or making the customer happy or something that worth waiting for.

That will be my first and the last dining at that restaurant – I can bet on it.
